OUR CHAPTER
The National Hampton Alumni Association has adopted the motto “Together We Make A Difference." Our chapter wholeheartedly supports this and have endorsed it as our motto as well. After all, the collective efforts of dues paying members, friends, and supportive businesses in the local community have been the cornerstone to our the chapter's success over the years.
The Chapter provides community outreach and service to the local area, and has done so for the last 36 years. Among our many service projects, most recently we've partnered with Fairfax County Public Schools in the form of backpack donations for the homeless student population and collected food and other supplies for the Capital Area Food Bank. We hope to continue our service to the local community in a way that allows Hampton's legacy to live on, letting our lives do the singing.
The "Together We Make a Difference" motto is one that we've taken to heart and used in an effort to extend our hand outside of the Northern Virginia area. It shows in the chapter's relationship with the DC metro area NHAA, Inc. chapters (Washington DC, Montgomery County, and Prince George's County) and also extending our community ties to other HBCU alumni chapters.
In January 2012, a group of other HBCU graduates proposed to start a chapter of the Atlanta HBCU Alumni Alliance in the Washington, DC metro area. Our chapter was a part of many planning sessions to organize a chapter in the District of Columbia. The DC Chapter of the HBCU Alumni Alliance was officially incorporated June 6, 2012 with NOVA NHAA, Inc. as one of its charter chapters.
